The First Day
August 27th, 2007
OK, we’re here!
Yeah.
This is Miss Thompson’s room. See?
Uh-huh.
It looks like a lot of kids are already in there.
Yep.
You know, Kindergarten is nothing to be scared about.
I know that.
There are lots of new kids to meet and the teacher is really nice.
I guess.
And you know we’ll see each other after school, right?
Right.
Are you crying?
Noooo.
Do you want a hug?
Yeah.
Here you go. Now you need to let go of me. Come on, let go.
Alright.
Mommy, are you going to be OK?
Yeah, Sam. I’ll be fine.
Well, then, goodbye!
Goodbye, Sam. Goodbye, my baby.

I feel for you. My oldest started 1st grade this year, and I got the casual wave over the back of the head. Apparently, she was too busy to turn around.

Awwwww…
I’m taking Random to Winnipeg tomorrow so she can fly to the other side of the country and start university :’(
They grow up so fast.
I’m pretty sure I’ll cry a little bit, but I won’t even try to hide it.
Fenchurch was an emotional wreck when she took the Terrorist to school for Kindergarten…

Awww… You know, I wait anxiously for the first day of school every year and then spend it absolutely DYING for them to get back home and tell me everything that happened… and the best I usually get is a “Nothing – it was fine.” Hope his was fine, too!

Yeah. That’ll be me and my first baby next week. I’m trying not to think about it.

My “baby” graduated high school in June so i have no one going to school this september for the first time in 20 years. It is the strangest feeling. I am glad I don’t have to worry about homework and class performances and such but I will miss homework anc class performances and such.

Nicely done, W. This is a big moment in time–hard to see them grow up. I look forward to hearing about his adventures in the K-house.

This was very sweet…my son began his Kindergarten experience last week, and I was definitely the one having issues – not my social, center-of-attention, independent son.
I look forward to hearing how Sam’s (and your) first day went.

Sweet. I love the start of school. It is nerve wracking but I love it for my kids. My daughters school doesn’t start until the week after Labor Day so she is PISSED she isn’t going with her brother.
I agree with madmad, all I get is :”GREAT!” then I ask, “What did you do?” Spawn says, “Um,I don’t remember.”
duh.

I loved this. Someone forwarded me the letter to P&G and it made me curious enough to google you. I loved, loved, loved that I was rewarded with this gem. It’s sweet and funny and right on. Hope the first week was awesome–for both of you.
Amy
